You create a free OpenRouter account, add prepaid credit (even €5 goes a long way), and paste your key into SimFolk. You can never spend more than the credit you loaded. Our setup tutorial (video + PDF) walks you through it in minutes.
SimFolk personas are immersion NPCs — hosts, merchants, keepers — and handle mature *themes* in character. For explicit content, model behaviour depends on the AI model you choose and its provider's terms; through OpenRouter you can select models suited to mature settings. Compliance with your model provider's policies is your responsibility.
At launch, NPCs are conversation-first. Simple gestures are next on the roadmap (free upgrade for Storyteller and Estate), followed by an advanced action engine with themed animation packs. Founding members vote on roadmap priorities.
